I don&#039;t feel Gary was miscast in Design For Living, although I&#039;ve read that myself in some places (but then some people think Fredric March was miscast as well). I think you needed that kind of bumbling, unpolished charm in contrast to Tom&#039;s character. That way you could see why Gilda couldn&#039;t choose between them. It was like apples and oranges. Both Gary and Fredric were perfectly cast in that. 

I need to see more of Cooper&#039;s early work. I&#039;m mostly familiar with his later stuff, but he was SO handsome in the early 30&#039;s.

You&#039;re not the only one obsessed with Fredric March as of late. I actually went out and bought the 1935 version Les Miserables just to see him at work and I LOVED it. It&#039;s such a wonderful movie and he&#039;s fantastic. I tend to enjoy him in these historical epics that I would never watch on a normal basis--Anthony Adverse was pretty great too. 

Miriam Hopkins always annoys me in her later roles. Like in &quot;The Heiress&quot;, I just want to bitch slap her for being so stupid and annoying.</description>
